Hi,
We (drummer, bassist, vocalist) are interested in finding a guitarist and keyboard player for a new project. We are all seasoned musicians (over 60 years combined experience between us). What we're interested is in a guitarist & keyboard player who are experienced & can play all styles, but also interested in being part of a team - no egos - all for one, one for all kind of thing. Everyone has input & we learn what each other suggests, but we concentrate on playing what the people want to hear. We want this new project to do 10 to 20 songs of each genre (at least) in order to play anywhere and for anyone. The more versatile GOOD bands are the ones being paid the GOOD $$ and have the best following. In our experience, it's the band that plays what people want to hear that people come back to see. We want to entertain the masses and have fun doing it! It's a blast to get everyone out of there seats jammin' whether your playing blues, country, current rock, or the classics. We have a female singer who can sing Alannis Morisette, Janis Joplin, Pat Benetar, Gretchen Wilson and then turn around an sing Metallica, AC/DC, ZZ Top and Skynyrd. So she's pretty versatile. The bass player has been in several rock & country bands. He can play everything from the walking bass swing style, to the rhythmic country, to the hard heavy grind of current music. Our drummer just wants to do it all and has the talent to do it. The 3 of us have been a team off and on for the last 10 years or so, so we click with each other well. We want to find those unique members that will fit in with us. Currently we're in a classic rock band (3 pc w/ voice)- mainly 70's & 80's rock, but we're wanting to do something more varied to open us up to more opportunities. We know about 100 different songs that are doable now (classic, blues, rock, country, etc.) that a the guitarist/keyboardist can learn(unless he/she already knows them). We're also quick studies and are eager to learn new material that these new members know well. Therefore, we could be ready fairly quickly. We have connections and future shows set up that this new project can take over if the members we choose are ready. After that we can work on learning more material that everyone wants to do. If interested in hearing more, email me back. I'd like to know where in general your located in KC (South, Northeast, North?), your experience, preferences, are you more a lead or rhythm player, what are your goals for yourself and whatever band your in, what do you look for in a band, and how much are you wanting to play (twice a month, every weekend, as much as possible?) If you have anything recorded, email that too and we'll listen to it. Don't forget your contact info so we can call you back!! • Location: Independence/South KC

KC needs a heavy blues band badlyposted: November 19, 2009, 12:10 PM

After going to local shows and seeing the local blues bands here, I think KC needs a heavier rockin blues band with a Joe Bonamossa, Jeff Healey and Gary Moore, etc... type feel. I've played a private birthday party here recently with about 70 people there and was told I should play live as there aren't any bands that play heavy blues and I know we'd already have a following with these people.
I'm looking for a bass player (one who can slap bass as well but not a deal breaker), drummer and keyboard player who has a B3 or that sound. I'm not looking for any ego's at all, just good people who love to play and make people feel good when playing. I'm looking to form a band from scratch and since this is a cover band city, its what we'd do but I would like to work originals as well and slip them in. Classic rock wouldn't be a bad idea either if it fits in. NO EGO'S PLEASE! The only age requirement I'm asking for is that you're at least 21 years of age. No offense to the younger musicians and I'm sure there are a lot of talented ones out there but bars here I think would book a band easier without parent chapperones. Again, no offense to anyone here. • Location: Olathe, KS

Gigging cover dance band THE RENT seeks synth/keyboard player...male or female but a female would be very cool but whoever has the right vibe and talent gets the gig. We play popular rock, soul/funk,pop from the 60's to NOW with a bit of rap, country and whatever the party calls for. You have a very diverse and open mind to new music as well as the old stuff, can play what is on the cd as far as the regular keyboard parts as well as horns and other sounds that can be done on synth and you have solo skills.YOU COME IN KNOWING YOUR PARTS. It's cool if you can play another instrument/s or sing lead on a few songs and even better if you can supply background vocals but your primary function is keyboards. YOU MUST LIKE TO PLAY POPULAR DANCE MUSIC and have your own keys, amplification and car.We practice in downtown KCMO ...absolutely no drugs, drunks, crazy egos, know-it-alls or drama.Check out our website at http://www.myspace.com/therentkcmo and if interested reply back with any samples, website, mp3s and tell us about you and your experience and above all YOU MUST LEAVE YOUR PHONE NUMBER so we can talk to you person to person and possibly arrange an audition

$30/HOUR STUDIO TIME. Pre-Pay ONLY. Beats starting at $25. Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express Credit/Debit cards accepted. Call Dan Smith 816-214-6088.
DAN SMITH AGENCY Recording Studio has enjoyed rapid growth in business since becoming a commercial enterprise in November of 1997. I’ve recorded hundreds of musical acts including rap, hip-hop, R&B, rock, punk, country, blues, jazz, bluegrass, Hispanic, Celtic, Asian, gospel, folk, voice-overs, spoken word, etc. Some projects of note that were recorded and mixed here include; Heet Mob/Soul Project’s song “I See Ya”, featured in the score for the Hollywood Movie Brown Sugar, staring Taye Diggs, Sanaa Lathan, Mos Def and Queen Latifah (check out Scene 15 on your DVD!), Emiel Cleaver’s E=MC which is one of earBuzz.com’s “favorite CDs of the year”, Prophett Maine’s The Rapper CD, Bulldog Front’s (later Go Generation) Fashionable Anarchist CD, Mark Reynolds’ Drosophilia CD and the self-titled Lust-R-Tones CD, all praised in The Pitch Weekly. The Death Ray Angels’ Patriotica CD, engineered at DSA, was Timothy Finn’s favorite local Hard Rock recording of 2002 in the Kansas City Star. Priceless Diamonds, “The Boss Bitch” columnist for the Pitch Weekly, recorded her single “Booty Pop” at Dan Smith Agency. Roger Suggs a/k/a Vigalantee received very good reviews at eKConline for his A.N.I.M.A.L., $5 Lick and No Jaangle Movement CDs that were recorded here. The latter inspired Steve Penn of the Kansas City Star to devote a whole column about the positive message of the album. Recent projects include Soft Serve Assault by Mr. Fish, Don’t Sleep and Gumbo by AK, The Birth of Hurricane by Hurricane, Private Stock by Perelli, Hit That by Raul Soto (Produced by hit maker Charlie Rosario), The Movement by UnKcanny (featuring C.S.T.), Keep It Poppin by Al Slikc, Drone Boyz by BrandoShis and Ant Da Vett and all of Legal Tender Records projects for their stable of artists, including Strike Burner, Crucc Da Conn, Mr. Dave and Malice Monte. K C Star’s Jason Whitlock produced a demo here in 2006. Even the likes of former James Brown backing vocalist, Marva Whitney, and Kansas City’s “Queen of The Blues”, the late, great Annetta “Cotton Candy” Washington, recorded demo tracks here in my humble little basement. Presently, I’m engineering about two sessions per day, often seven days a week. With this much time at the boards, I’ve learned a lot about what works to make professional sounding recordings. Hence, I’m getting a great deal of repeat and referral business. My musical background as a professional drummer and band leader for KC’s popular Riverrock band has been invaluable. The Studio gear: DAN SMITH AGENCY Recording Studio consists of a Roland VS-2480CD Digital Studio Workstation which includes 24-bit hard disk recording, sixteen inputs, twenty-four mixing channels with sixteen tracks per channel for a total of 384 recording tracks and eight stereo digital effect processors which include three VS8F-2 Effect Expansion Cards and one VS8F-3 Plug-In Expansion Card. PLUG-INS include: Roland Bundle; Mastering Tool Kit, Tempo Mapping Effect, Stereo Reverb, Vocal Channel Strip, Preamp Modeling and Antares Autotune VS. I use the Roland VS-CD System for custom audio CDs and can use the CD burner to back up the multi-track data from the hard drives (up to six average song files) to 700MB CDRs. Or, I can back up data to 100MB re-writable Zip Disks using my Iomega Zip Drive. I can also master to a Tascam DA-20 DAT recorder or a Tascam CD-RW5000 CD writer. I can make quick CD dubs on a Tascam CD D4000 duplicator that can dupe CDs at 4X speed. There is also a Tascam 202 MK III Dual Cassette Deck for those still working in that medium. In addition, the Studio has Roland V-Drums / TD-10 professional drum set (upgraded with the TDW-1 Expansion Board), an Ensoniq ASR-10 sampler/sequenser keyboard, a Boss DR-5 Dr. Rhythm beat machine, an isolation booth (for vocals, instruments, amps, etc.), custom JBL studio monitors, Yamaha KS10 near field monitors, assorted mics, including two Rode NT1 condenser mics with three ART MP pre amps, AKG D112, Sure SM57, Peavey PVM 38i and four EV N/D 257A dynamic mics, a Furman HA-6A headset amp and AKG headsets. A word about Roland Virtual Workstations: There are many formats available these days to record. Roland revolutionized the “Studio-in-a-box” idea with the VS-880 (eight channels with 64 virtual tracks). I began my career on this beautiful little machine in 1996, its first year. It was a recorder, mixer, editor and effects rack in a box the size of a portable typewriter and it had a hard drive that could “undo” mistakes and think like a word processor. As Roland introduced each new generation of workstations, i.e.; the VS-1680 and the VS-1880, I purchased them and raised my price just a little (and the quality of recording a lot). They had more tracks, more effects, more everything. By staying with Roland, the oldest of my sessions’ data could still be imported into the new formats, keeping those old multi-track recordings from becoming obsolete. With the purchase of Roland’s new VS-2480CD (now with the new VS8F-3 Plug-In Expansion Card), I have raised the bar even higher. The flat screen monitor brings the advantages of PC based interface to the world of VS systems. Clients can see their recorded tracks and watch the process of mixing and editing. This makes it easier to communicate with the engineer as the session is produced. The Roland Virtual Studios are designed especially for audio recording, thus they excel. • Location: 2825 E. 8th Street KCMO

Keyboard player needed for original gigging bandposted: October 16, 2009, 10:03 AM

Looking for a keyboard player who wants to join an original gigging jam band that plays locally and regionally. We create original music and play some covers that have inspired us personally. We have great chemistry together and enjoy playing for people.
This band is full of really good musicians with a genuine love for what they do. Everyone's input on the music is important to all of us. We embrace the diversity of all of our musical interests and enjoy utilizing that diversity to create our sound. We practice once per week for about 3 hours in the evening according to everyone's schedules. To narrow it down for you.... if you are ALL about just playing for money then this is not the band for you. We do get paid for our gigs, which varies from gig to gig, and the money is growing all the time, however, our true driving force is the love of playing together and the moments we share as musicians and this completely shines through in our music. Currently, all of us have agreed to put the money we are making together gigging and putting in our account for necessary gear. We get nice gigs at noted venues with other great bands in the area and have a nice fan base. Our shows are getting people out of the house and cheering us on. There's lot's of love coming from our fans and that base is growing rapidly. We are looking forward to the next year of progress and finding a great keyboard player to join us permanently on this journey. We currently have some tracks we can direct you to so you can hear a little sample of a few original tunes we have done. Email for more info. • Location: Kansas City

Bass players, tired of playing the same old covers????posted: October 14, 2009, 05:01 AM

Mary Goes Round, a rock cover band in Kansas City, is looking for a bassist. We are an experienced four-piece that plays a variety of rock/alternative/pop tunes – Maroon 5, Bowling for Soup, Weezer, Radiohead, We The Kings, - everything from Bowie to Metro Station - even rocked-up takes on Timberlake, Lady GaGa and Britney (basically, anything that gets people moving and isn’t the same, tired covers people have heard millions of times). We range between 30-45 years of age and have built a set list of nearly 20 songs with our current bassist, but he is moving out of state. Our ideal replacement would be proficient at bass and also able to sing lead and harmony vocals (we split lead vocal duties three ways right now, depending on what songs fit each member), any keyboard ability is also a plus, but not a must. Most importantly, any new band member would have to be a good fit as a person. We have a strict “no drugs, no drunks and no drama” belief. We also are committed to putting on the best show we can and having a great time playing music. Come check out our web site at www.myspace.com/marygoesroundkc or e-mail marygoesroundkc@gmail.com and let us know if you are interested!

Selling a near new Roland VK-8 Organ in MINT Condition. I have several other B3 Clones so I do not need this one and I want to get the Roland G-8. So I need to sell this asap. Price is right: $1050.00 - Call Mike at 816 347-0487. If I do not sell this within a couple of days, it goes on EBay and will get at lease my original price.
