Starting new cover project - guitar & keys needed

posted: November 22, 2009, 05:33 AM

Hi,

We (drummer, bassist, vocalist) are interested in finding a guitarist and keyboard player for a new project. We are all seasoned musicians (over 60 years combined experience between us). What we're interested is in a guitarist & keyboard player who are experienced & can play all styles, but also interested in being part of a team - no egos - all for one, one for all kind of thing. Everyone has input & we learn what each other suggests, but we concentrate on playing what the people want to hear. We want this new project to do 10 to 20 songs of each genre (at least) in order to play anywhere and for anyone. The more versatile GOOD bands are the ones being paid the GOOD $$ and have the best following. In our experience, it's the band that plays what people want to hear that people come back to see.

We want to entertain the masses and have fun doing it! It's a blast to get everyone out of there seats jammin' whether your playing blues, country, current rock, or the classics. We have a female singer who can sing Alannis Morisette, Janis Joplin, Pat Benetar, Gretchen Wilson and then turn around an sing Metallica, AC/DC, ZZ Top and Skynyrd. So she's pretty versatile. The bass player has been in several rock & country bands. He can play everything from the walking bass swing style, to the rhythmic country, to the hard heavy grind of current music. Our drummer just wants to do it all and has the talent to do it. The 3 of us have been a team off and on for the last 10 years or so, so we click with each other well. We want to find those unique members that will fit in with us.

Currently we're in a classic rock band (3 pc w/ voice)- mainly 70's & 80's rock, but we're wanting to do something more varied to open us up to more opportunities. We know about 100 different songs that are doable now (classic, blues, rock, country, etc.) that a the guitarist/keyboardist can learn(unless he/she already knows them). We're also quick studies and are eager to learn new material that these new members know well. Therefore, we could be ready fairly quickly. We have connections and future shows set up that this new project can take over if the members we choose are ready. After that we can work on learning more material that everyone wants to do.

If interested in hearing more, email me back. I'd like to know where in general your located in KC (South, Northeast, North?), your experience, preferences, are you more a lead or rhythm player, what are your goals for yourself and whatever band your in, what do you look for in a band, and how much are you wanting to play (twice a month, every weekend, as much as possible?)

If you have anything recorded, email that too and we'll listen to it. Don't forget your contact info so we can call you back!!

DeZire seeking a new Bass Player/Singer

The band DeZire (formerly Soul DeZire) is in need of a new bass player singer that can sing lead on about 10 songs for any show. We are no longer a female fronted band but will use a female for special functions and all wedding receptions. The band primarily plays private functions but may change that for the right venues. If you are interested please respond to this post with your name, contact telephone number, playing history and any recent bands and websites. A current songlist and songs that you sing would be most apprectiated. DeZire is a variety group that covers party dance songs from the 60s to the present day Top 40 Artists.
We have very little emphasis on Classic Rock and Southern Rock. Most of our shows include a first set devoted to Classic R&B, Motown and 60s and early 70s Dance Rock. We would liked to add a Beatles Medley to our Master Songlist. Mike, Will or Jim will get back with you asap.

Bass Player for Working 80s Party Band

posted: November 3, 2009, 04:34 PM

Replymlancas194@aol.com

Retroactive (www.retroactivekc.com) is looking for a strong bass player. After a solid three year run the obligations of work and family have caused our bass player to leave us at the end of the year. Mark has set the bar high with great playing, an entertaining stage presence, and an approach to sound that has taken this band to new heights.

We play 80s music geared toward making women 25-45 dance. That's what we do. We dress the part and play the part. We have a good time doing it. We have the best male and female singing combo in the area. We are booking into 2010 and look to make the change at the end of this year. We play out at Crowne Center, Zona Rosa, and Power & Light as well as occassional corporate work.

We need the right person. Are you that person? Take a look at our website and see for yourself. Give me a call at 913-558-4908 or email at mlancas194@aol.com

Who can Sing like Joni Mitchell?

I am looking to audition female singers who are interested in performing
in a Joni Mitchell tribute show. This show would be marketed to local clubs such as The Brick, Bar Natasha, The Record Bar and others.
Presently I am an active solo acoustic guitarist in the KC MO area.
It is possible that a duo that would gig regulary playing other material could evolve out of this.

The ideal singer I am looking to work with would be able to read music,
have a wide vocal range (a la Joni), and also be familer with Joni's material from her early songs to more recent material.Interested singers may contact Kevin at 816-379-8105

looking to start metal band with female vocals

posted: November 2, 2009, 07:26 PM

I've been listening to alot of Arch Enemy and The Agonist and just find that a powerfull female vocalist is just freekin badass! Recently had my last band come apart and i'm already going stir crazy to start something new. I play rythm and have influences from as far back as metallica(pre-black album) up to current stuff i listed above plus others like The absence, Raunchy, winds of plague, and Threat signal. I've got about 5 songs mostly completed, but i'm open to all input on the writing process.
Only downside...i dont have a place for a band to practice.
But if we can find a solution then all is good. Drop me a line if ur interested.
