Hi,
We (drummer, bassist, vocalist) are interested in finding a guitarist and keyboard player for a new project. We are all seasoned musicians (over 60 years combined experience between us). What we're interested is in a guitarist & keyboard player who are experienced & can play all styles, but also interested in being part of a team - no egos - all for one, one for all kind of thing. Everyone has input & we learn what each other suggests, but we concentrate on playing what the people want to hear. We want this new project to do 10 to 20 songs of each genre (at least) in order to play anywhere and for anyone. The more versatile GOOD bands are the ones being paid the GOOD $$ and have the best following. In our experience, it's the band that plays what people want to hear that people come back to see. We want to entertain the masses and have fun doing it! It's a blast to get everyone out of there seats jammin' whether your playing blues, country, current rock, or the classics. We have a female singer who can sing Alannis Morisette, Janis Joplin, Pat Benetar, Gretchen Wilson and then turn around an sing Metallica, AC/DC, ZZ Top and Skynyrd. So she's pretty versatile. The bass player has been in several rock & country bands. He can play everything from the walking bass swing style, to the rhythmic country, to the hard heavy grind of current music. Our drummer just wants to do it all and has the talent to do it. The 3 of us have been a team off and on for the last 10 years or so, so we click with each other well. We want to find those unique members that will fit in with us. Currently we're in a classic rock band (3 pc w/ voice)- mainly 70's & 80's rock, but we're wanting to do something more varied to open us up to more opportunities. We know about 100 different songs that are doable now (classic, blues, rock, country, etc.) that a the guitarist/keyboardist can learn(unless he/she already knows them). We're also quick studies and are eager to learn new material that these new members know well. Therefore, we could be ready fairly quickly. We have connections and future shows set up that this new project can take over if the members we choose are ready. After that we can work on learning more material that everyone wants to do. If interested in hearing more, email me back. I'd like to know where in general your located in KC (South, Northeast, North?), your experience, preferences, are you more a lead or rhythm player, what are your goals for yourself and whatever band your in, what do you look for in a band, and how much are you wanting to play (twice a month, every weekend, as much as possible?) If you have anything recorded, email that too and we'll listen to it. Don't forget your contact info so we can call you back!! • Location: Independence/South KC

I play bass in a good, working country band right now, but I would like to possibly get a few extra gigs, meet some new people, have some fun, etc. Have experience and good gear. Chances are I know a good percentage of your song list already. What songs I don't know I can learn on my own pretty quickly. I also like to play some rock such as Bob Seger, Tom Petty, Creedence, etc. Four and five string bass. Mostly I'm playing four string nowadays.

KC needs a heavy blues band badlyposted: November 19, 2009, 12:10 PM

After going to local shows and seeing the local blues bands here, I think KC needs a heavier rockin blues band with a Joe Bonamossa, Jeff Healey and Gary Moore, etc... type feel. I've played a private birthday party here recently with about 70 people there and was told I should play live as there aren't any bands that play heavy blues and I know we'd already have a following with these people.
I'm looking for a bass player (one who can slap bass as well but not a deal breaker), drummer and keyboard player who has a B3 or that sound. I'm not looking for any ego's at all, just good people who love to play and make people feel good when playing. I'm looking to form a band from scratch and since this is a cover band city, its what we'd do but I would like to work originals as well and slip them in. Classic rock wouldn't be a bad idea either if it fits in. NO EGO'S PLEASE! The only age requirement I'm asking for is that you're at least 21 years of age. No offense to the younger musicians and I'm sure there are a lot of talented ones out there but bars here I think would book a band easier without parent chapperones. Again, no offense to anyone here. • Location: Olathe, KS

-For cover band project, and originals. We are looking to do an acoustic act as of the present time. Ideally focusing on popular or commercial acoustic songs. Also willing to arrange or adapt songs into an acoustic format. We are putting the group together w/idea in mind of promoting cover band as a service; i.e. gig and make money, and slip in our own original music. Original musical influences are mostly an eclectic mix of popular music sounds from several bands. Looking to make the basic core group, and add extras as we continue in process. We will not be up and running very quickly. Emphasis on time spent to make proffessional performance. Ideal individual will bring ideas for covers to the table and will be willing to play covers suggested by other two members. Artistic individual that wants to write bass lines is also preffered. Please email us and tell us about yourself. Please ask questions, or call #.
Thanks for your time, Jonathan (816)769-9415 • Location: South KC

Rock/Blues Band Seeks Keysposted: November 17, 2009, 10:47 AM

If you are a Keys player (Piano/B3 style) in your late teens-early 20s (18-23ish) and enjoy playing both originals and covers in a classic rock/blues style of music this will be the band for you. Styles ranging from Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Ozzy to the Beatles, we will be playing it all. There is a major call for a young band that plays this style and it will be a blast to do. What makes this band unique is the fact that there is a lack of younger musicians who do this style of music, along with original material, we aim to help make this market larger.
Experienced vocalist along with a very gifted guitarist, capable bass player and one of the best young drummers in the midwest, will have no problems supplying year round private practice space, above average recording equipment and a professional ear to help master our music for free. Along with that there are many connections for shows that we have so booking gigs will not be a problem. WE ARE ALREADY PLAYING SHOWS, so this is not a gamble it is a band that already has its feet on the ground. All you have to do is play your instrument well. Be able to keep up, keep time and even show off a little when called on as this will be a band focused on every member and not just 1 or 2. We are looking for a keys player who above all else can jam and not just play sheet music. This is a new band so the atmosphere is very cool, with no pre-existing drama or egos. Reply with any questions. • Location: JoCo

These are only about 5 months old since I bought them new at Musician's Friend. Bass guitar has one slight abrasion at very end of tuning peg mount, amp has some slight abrasions on top from cat claws, not noticeable unless you are close and looking for it. Both work great, have never had any problems with them. If someone buys them both together I will throw in a Ibanez PD7 PHAT-HED bass overdrive pedal and some instrument cables for free.

Do you sing? Play Guitar or Bass? Maybe Drums? Looking for other musicians to Jam with and get your mid-week music fix. Join us Wednesday Night for one of the fastest growing Jams in KC. I won't say it's better than any of the others. There are a bunch of good jams around town, but then, there's a bunch of garbage out there too. Our Jam started just before summer of this year, with only four jammers, and now on any given night, we will play well beyond our 11pm quitting time, just to make sure everyone gets a chance to play. If you play guitar (acoustic or electric). if you play bass, if you play drums (or any kind of percussion), or just like to sing, there is a place for you here. If you are in to Rock, Classic Rock, Country, Blues or just about any other style of music, we will play it (or at least try to). Covers or Originals are welcome. You can play solo, or bring your band, or you can have the house band accompany you. We'll try anything once....more if we like it.
This Wednesday (11/18/09) come see a special "Guest House Band". We'll have a little more Country flavor than usual, but there will still be some Rockin' to do. Join us Wednesday Nights. 8-11pm (or later).......you can also check us out on MySpace at : www.myspace.com/halftimejamband Halftime Bar & Grill 8510 E US Highway 40 Kansas City, MO 64129-1640 (816) 921-4100 • Location: KCMO

20 years experience in teaching. I now teach at Funky Munky Music at 12710 Shawnee Mission Pkwy. I've taught in the past at Big Dudes, Raymore Music and most recently The Music Stand/Gallery for the past 18 years. I specialize in a good understanding of the instrument and music. I teach in a fun environment. I like to have fun in my lessons, which makes it a more enjoyable experience. I concentrate much on the technique needed to play the instrument well and as effortlessly as possible. Good technique is one of the most important aspects of playing, and isn't usually covered well by books, videos or by many instructors. Without it, it is impossible to play any advanced material. I teach an easy to understand approach to scales, modal/chordal theory, rhythm, lead, sweep arpeggios, lightning fast runs, fingerpicking, tapping, Earl Scruggs style and technique on banjo, slap and pop, and tapping on bass. Genres are: blues, rock, heavy metal, country, classical, bluegrass, contemporary christian, funk, pop and jazz. Hours are: 1-9pm M-Th, 2-7pm Fr, and 9am-5pm Sat. Please call me at (913)722-2621. Please leave a message if no answer, or call the store and ask for my schedule at (913) 268-5555 or just respond via email. Thanks! Larry Crabtree
