Hi all,
On June 22nd, the Student Athlete Foundation of Kansas (SAF-K) is hosting the first annual Spirit Race 5K Fun Run/Walk. It has been designed to promote friendly competition between all of our schools, as well as to engage the greater community, in an effort to raise money for SAF-K. Prizes for the school with the most attendees will be announced soon.
Money raised from this year's event will go towards purchasing automatic external defibrilators (AEDs) for each of our athletic trainers to have to carry with them wherever they go. With so many events and practices, especially in the fall and spring, being held somewhere other than a high school campus, sometimes there is no AED readily available.
Leftover money from this year and future years will go towards supporting SAF-K's student athletes in various ways. This could include tools for rehabilitation, programs for high school students interested in athletic training, emergency equipment, and we've even talked about starting a scholarship program.
The website for the race is Registration links are available for race participants, volunteers and donors. There is also a corporate sponsorship packet available for download if you or someone you know may be interested in sponsoring the race. If you have a company that you would like SAF-K to contact directly regarding corporate sponsorship, please let me know.
Thank you so much for considering participation in this event in one form or another. It's all to help our student athletes!
