“DREAMGIRLS” COMING TO THE RUSKIN STAGE OCT 28 AND OCT 30

Ruskin High School’s Theatre Department brings “Dreamgirls” to
the stage of the Blaine E. Steck Auditorium Wednesday, Oct. 28 and
Friday, Oct. 30. The curtain goes up at 7 p.m. each night. This is the
debut show for the school’s first year theatre director Kelly
Michale.

“I knew I would need to choose a popular show that the students
enjoy, in order to try and build a ‘new’ theatre department,” she
said. “I wanted to direct a show that the students would be excited
about, along with their families and the community.”

Full of onstage joy and backstage drama, “Dreamgirls” tells the
rags-to-riches story of a 1960s Motown girl group and the triumphs and
tribulations that come with fame and fortune. “I believe
“Dreamgirls” conveys a wonderful message about overcoming your
obstacles and that anyone is capable of achieving their dreams,”
Michale said.

Tickets are $5 at the door. In addition to the two evening
performances, there will be two special performances for students at
Ruskin and at Smith-Hale Middle School. For the first year director, the
curtain cannot rise fast enough. “I am extremely proud of the cast and
crew,” Michale said. “It is going to be a fabulous show!”

Primary cast members are: Tenequa Shephard, Chris Allen, Kristen
Jackson, Jonathan Madden, Talisha Shephard, LeAundre Williams, Shealinda
