Job Description
Spring Coiler – Sets-Up and tends machines that automatically coil compression, extension, torsion springs and wire forms from round and possibly flat wire, following written and verbal instructions. Examines wire stock with micrometer to ensure conformance to specifications. Measures springs for conformance to specifications, using micrometers and gauges. Verifies action of springs under pressure by using test equipment to place springs under specified load. May also sharpen tools and remove coiling marks from coiling point and pitch tool, using bench grinders.
• Set up a variety of mechanical and/or CNC controlled spring coiling machines in order to produce quality parts confirming to given specifications.
• Operate other production equipment such as mechanical and CNC coilers and wire forming machines.
• Determine tooling requirements and where necessary develop tooling, fixtures, hold devices and other machine or equipment accessories.
• Read and follow prints, work instructions, product specifications, programs, and apply knowledge of spring winding methodology.
• Establish, program and input required data into the computer for CNC controlled machines.
• Set up and operate additional processes such as grinders and presses.
• Installs guards to conform to safety standards a required.
• Makes a trial run including stress relief and measures a sample product for conformance to specifications using gauges, load testers, micrometers and calipers.
• Records data relative to the quality of the springs produced
• Verify required productions speeds are met or exceeded while maintaining quality.
• Maintain exceptional quality levels by performing quality checks on parts using micrometers, calipers, load testers and other inspection tools to ensure the parts are within parameters.

Preferred Qualifications:
• High school education minimum.
• Skill trade preferred.
• 2 years coiling set-up experience preferred
• 2-5 years’ experience in manufacturing preferred
• Good math skills. Ability to use decimals and fractions, work from drawings and specifications.
• Good mechanical sills
• Good communication skills
• Experience using adjustable precision measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers and other equipment.
• Detailed blueprint reading and interpretation capability required.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair machine issues.
